The Ruscombe Farm Red Poll herd is grazed exclusively on grassland around Ruscombe. The pasture contains a variety of plant species, including herbs, wildflowers and clovers providing all the nutritional components an animal needs. – rich in essential vitamins and minerals drawn up from the soil below. They also support a diverse range of wildlife.

 

If necessary the cattle are brought in for a couple of months during winter, when they are fed on hay produced in the Ruscombe Valley.

 

Pasture Beef is better for human health than grain-fed beef in ten different ways:

• Lower in total fat

• Lower in the saturated fats linked with heart disease

• Higher in total omega-3 fatty acids (good fats)

• A healthier ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids

• Higher in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a potential cancer fighter
